Smoothing the Path to Event Thinking & the Vision of the Real-time Enterprise

In this session, Jasper Van Rijn, Head ofSoftware Design and Engineering at Drax Group, explains that there is a risk that any initiative around event driven architecture is seen as the next silver bullet in the toy box. Adoption will inevitably face an uphill struggle to justify why we should do things differently and various roles will inevitably be at different stages of the shift to “Event Thinking”.

Although the technology can provide the infrastructure that will enable an EDA, the “A” in EDA in Jasper’s experience can be interpreted more as Infrastructure, rather than a holistic, transformational, enterprise-wide vision.
